内容简介:
Using 48 months of data from 100,000 randomly selected users of Ant Forest – the leading personal carbon accounting platform integrated within Alipay, China’s prominent Fintech super-app – we demonstrate that individuals strategically engage in eco-friendly behaviors to enhance their credit limits, particularly when approaching borrowing constraints. This behavior also benefits the platform, as green actions increase data value, thereby improving the efficiency of credit lending. To establish causality, we leverage exogenous shocks to credit line usage induced by the 2020 Double 11 shopping festival in China. Finally, we quantify the societal green losses that would arise from the dismantlement of BigTech platforms.
